What updates?

Published by Jeff

It’s kind of been a while… Spring is here and the days are becoming warmer of coarse.

Amy visited a friend of hers in Los Angeles for a few days during April break from school, where she had a nice time and saw some interesting sites.

It’s a busy time but that can be good too.   I’ve been trying to keep up on my guitar playing after I got my new Takamine a few months back and so as slow as it is coming, I’m moving ahead….

We’ve got camping planned for a few weekends, probably in May and end of August.  Actually, I’ll have a good chunk of August off for some holiday time.

Weight loss:  I’ve finally become visceral about getting my weight to a point where I need to be.  Besides some competition at work, I’ve been walking with the dog in the morning almost 2 and a half miles, and at lunch, probably another 2 miles.  It’s been great at getting things moving first thing and helping to boost my metabolism.  We’ll see where that goes…

A mini holiday and a general update….

Published by Jeff

Well, Thanksgiving was great this year…. spent with Amy’s family this year. We had the full works of everything and we provided the smashed potatoes and corn bread…. It was a nice day and even nicer since I took Wednesday off as well, allows for a long break (a mini holiday).

We sneaked in a weekend trip to Newport with friends recently too, which was fun. We did the standard shopping and saw a few of the mansions they hadn’t seen.

I’ve also been in some training for the past few weeks for CCNA and Exchange 2007.

A lot is happening right now and we’re both very busy, especially with work stuff.

Dave’s wedding….

Published by Jeff

Amy and I were away last weekend to attend the wedding of our friends Dave & Diane…

It was a beautiful outside ceremony at the Lord Thompson Manor, in Thompson, CT. Basically, we were wined and dined all weekend and they had many friends and family in attendance. The location was picture perfect, especially for the time of year…

We wish them luck in the future and I thank them for having us be a part of it!

Fish and other misc…

Published by Jeff

We headed out with Amy’s father yesterday at 2:30am for some striper fishing down around Watch Hill and Fisher’s Island…. After pulling out about 4am or so, we netted a bunch of bunker, then turned south.

By 6 or so, we had arrived around Fisher’s Island (the airport) and had begun our quest. Ended up pulling out five good sized ones (about 20 to 25 pounds each) and threw a few back as well that were smaller.

After bass fishing, we tried some fluke fishing off of Misquamicut Beach, but it wasn’t very good, we only got a couple along with a bunch of skates.

Overall it was a great day. Amy and I ended up taking home two fish, once we cut them up, and threw them in the freezer.

Otherwise, looks like a fairly busy month for the weekends. We have two camping trips planned as well as some other outdoor stuff… Fall will be here before we know it I think!

And everything is changed….

Published by Jeff

Hold my hand and I’m yours,
And your heart will stay close to mine,
For I know the sun must rise with the dawn,
And at night the stars must shine.

And the wind must wander the ocean
And sing with the waves of the sea;
Just so, I know, I’ll be by your side,
And you will be wedded to me.

And you will be wedded to me, my love,
And I will be wedded to you;
For I know the tide must turn with the moon,
And the spring must return ever new.

And the sky must weep that the hillsides
May laugh in the green of their joy;
And the leaves must turn red, brown, and gold
That the earth might their riches employ.

And love like a mad, swollen hunger,
And love like an unending song,
And love like the silent pull of the Earth
Shall be with us all our lives long, my love,
Shall be with us all our lives long….

My oh my…

Published by Jeff

Well, a lot of changes appear to be on horizon… won’t speak to any of them at this point, but they’re all going to be great things for us…  In addition to being in the final run up to the wedding, we’ve been taking care of all of the last minute items, ordering stuff we need, and taking care of the bills.

It’s a very busy time and I’m guessing it will be for a few more weeks.  More to come later!

In the final stretch…

Published by Jeff

Well, here we are, into the final stretch for our wedding… It is absolutely wonderful to come to the realization that the day will finally be here.  We’re also looking forward to Cancun as well, it will give both of us some much needed time to relax, especially for Amy and everything she is finishing for school.

Lots of things coming together at once, but it’s been pretty smooth sailing.  We attending Amy’s sisters graduation from UConn on Sunday, which was a bit long, but very nice.  Saturday we did some outside chores, some cleanup, and shopped at a few places for misc summer items that I really needed (like new sneakers and shorts).

Busy with some firehouse projects as well.  We’re completely overhauling the hall and some other areas and it’s keeping a few of us busy (in an already busy time!).

You people…

Work… Well, it’s still there and that’s all I’m going to say at this point, but some changes are in the works for sure coming up…

We have now officially reached the less than 60 days mark (59) until our wedding and honeymoon and I can’t wait. On top of being happy and excited for this huge change in my life, I’m glad to be away from everything for two weeks (Ten days in Mexico, two weeks off from work), I think we both need it. Amy will have the wraps on her student teaching by then and hopefully teaching employment or close to it!

All of our invitations have gone out and we’ve gotten many responses, which is great. Looks like we’ll be pushing almost 200 people, which is a little more than I originally wanted, but we’ll make do. Actually, everything is done. Cake, flowers, chairs, reception, limo, music… It’s a huge weight off to get everything in motion. You kind of end up relaxing a bit at that point.

I’m probably going to go for another motorcycle after June as well, want to get into something a bit bigger than before and I miss it a lot already as spring is upon us. Have no fear, there are already a few options presenting themselves that I may be able to take advantage of around June.

I’ve had little time for anything other than wedding stuff, work, and class recently. My Officer class finished up finally, although it was a great class and I think I was able to take a lot away from it. Also working with the Fire Academy doing some instructor stuff, so that will keep me busy a few days a month, plus bring in a few extra dollars. Looking at Instructor 2, aerial op., and possibly Officer 2 towards end of year or beginning of next, we’ll see what happens…

Ugggg….

Published by Jeff

I can’t wait for summer to be here and our wedding and trip to Cancun, I need a break from it all!

Time is marching forward quickly to June and it will be here before we know it.  Invitations are set to go out this week I hope and all of the other little items are falling into place nicely.

I’m getting excited about everything, even though all of the planning is sometimes fun and sometimes a hassle…

My officer class is finishing up, it has been great.  Also will be putting in some hours coming up in April with the CT Fire Academy doing some proctoring and instructing, which should be interesting.  Amy is on her final push to finish her student teaching.

More later…

Yawn…

Published by Jeff

A long last couple of weeks are really taking their toll on us… Between my weekend class (which is going very well) and the planning and Amy’s school, things are packed to the limit.

New items:

  • Just passing the half way point on my officer class.
  • Promoted in the fire department to a Lieutenant position.
  • Completed printing our invitations, going out soon.
  • Final preparations for everything else, dividing the work between us!

That’s all I can think of right now.  Changing this site soon and going to make it something more orientated of things to come!

Amy celebrated my birthday this year with a surprise party and invited many of my friends from work and the fire department. Is was great and totally unexpected. Apparently it had been in the works for a while and I was clueless oh well….

I appreciate everyone who came and I think all enjoyed the good food and company!
